About the Event
When you make a mistake, slip-up or have to deal with something/someone you'd rather not, how do you treat yourself? Are you experiencing a loss of some kind (it comes in many forms!) and yet find yourself "soldiering on" weeks, months or years later? Do you support yourself like a loving friend would in challenging circumstances?
Come to a safe, quiet space to kindly tend to yourself. The workshop will begin and end with circle-time, providing you with an opportunity to share within the group. To help us begin to listen compassionately to ourselves, we will use gentle movement and then step into silence. With a hush around you, and no need to tend to others, see what unfolds... No matter what may show up, there will be support for you to express what is ready to come forward.
Benefits you can expect:
- "Self-compassion has been associated with a range of positive psychological strengths including optimism, curiosity, initiative, and emotional intelligence (Heffernan et al, 2010)."
- Studies have shown that the practice of mindful self-compassion significantly increases self-compassion, compassion for others, mindfulness, and life satisfaction, as well as decreasing depression, anxiety and stress (https://self-compassion.org).
